Anové Sample Kit Review

Anové is a Los Angeles based skincare brand that specializes in products that are free of Phthalates, Parabens, Formaldehyde, Sulfates and Silicones. Their goal is to ensure consumers receive the most natural, luxurious, skincare experience every morning and evening. They graciously sent me their Sample Kit in exchange for my honest feedback and review.

The kit includes sample sizes of every product that is currently sold and a deluxe sample of a masque that is exclusive to the kit. The Sample kit currently sells for $85 and if used as directed, will last you for about two weeks.

Anové AHA + Aloe Cleansing Gel

Described on their site as a gentle but effective face cleansing gel that removes impurities and reveals radiant skin, this combination of Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) and aloe vera work together to perfect and calm complexion.

Overall I was not a fan of this cleanser. It was way too gentle to remove the residue left from oil cleansing which made me question just how effective it really is. I have been double cleansing my face for over a year and if my second cleanser can’t remove the remaining oil, it will not stay in my rotation.

When I crossed the AHA + Aloe Cleansing Gel off as a night cleanser, I decided to test it as a day one. I had better results because I only use one cleansing product in the mornings. It left my skin feeling smooth and clean without feeling striped. No breakouts occurred over the course of me testing this product and I’d say give it a try if you are in the market for a gentle cleanser in the mornings.

Anové Immortal Rose Hydrating Toner

The spray bottle this sample comes in is not the best, so I just sprayed 4-5 pumps in my hand and patted that onto my face. It is a lovely scented toner that helped to add moisture in between my skincare steps. I imagine it would also be a good refresher as well with better packaging. (Again this is just in regards to the sample size).

If you are looking for a good quality rose water toner without all the extra questionable ingredients, it’s worth trying.

Overall: 6/10

Ingredients: *Rosa alba (White Rose) Distillate, Colloidal Silver, *Helichrysum Italicum (Immortelle) Distillate, *Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) extract, Hyaluronic Acid.      *Certified Organic

Anové Cooling Mist

Honestly, I feel if you get the Immortal Rose Hydrating Toner, you don’t really need this and vice versa. I think it would come down to your ingredient preferences. I had the same issue with the spray bottle it was in as I did with the toner which made testing this a little difficult but I managed by spray further away from my face. It smells like sweet peppermint a little too sweet for my liking, but that comes down to personal preference.

Overall: 6/10

Anové Firming Eye Serum

Hands down my favorite product from the entire line and one of the best eye serums I’ve used in a while. Upon application, it has a cooling and calming effect which helps to reduce puffiness around the eyes. As with most eye creams and serums, it is hard to test for the claims of reducing dark circles and wrinkles, as those take months to see results. I will say that the reduction in puffiness was evident after application.

There was no distinct scent and after two weeks of use, I didn’t get any of the under eye bumps (milia) that most eye products I’ve used in the past have caused because of the sensitivity of the area.

Added bonus is that a little goes a long way. I’m on my fourth week of the sample because the texture is gel like and spreads easily.

Overall 9/10

Ingredients: *Citrus Aurantium (Neroli) Distillate, Colloidal Silver, Silica, Colloidal Platinum, *Hibiscus, Calanthe Discolor (Japanese Orchid) extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) callus culture extract, Malus Domestica (Apple Stem Cell) Extract, Nannochloropsis Oculata (Microalgae) Extract, Pullulan, Lecithin, Ubiquinone, Ascorbic Acid, Tocopherol, Glycerin, Equisetum Arvense (Horsetail) Extract, Xanthan gum, Gluconolactone, Calcium Gluconate, Benzoic Acid, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract, Lactobacillus Ferment. *Certified Organic

Anové Perfecting Oil

The Perfecting Oil was my second favorite product from the line, which came as a big shock to me because my skin is very picky when it comes to oils. Goji berries, jojoba, sea buckthorn, avocado and pomegranate oil work together to create a lightweight moisturizer I can use during the day after my facial serums. At first the smell of this oil can come off a little strong, but after you rub it in your hands and apply it on your face, the scent quickly fades.

3-4 drops is enough for the whole face and absorbs fairly quickly, leaving behind a dewy complexion isn’t oil.

Overall 9/10

Anové Illuminating Masque

*This masque is only available with the purchase of the sample kit.

The Illuminating Masque helps to brighten the skin and restore the skin’s natural glow. Pomegranate and Turmeric work together to fight inflammation and reduce the appearance of dark spots. My skin did feel really soft and had a glow after I rinsed this off, however I can’t give a yay or nay to all the claims because that would take multiple uses and sadly I only got three uses out of the sample.

I will admit the masque can be a little messy and would definitely recommend rinsing it off with your hands before you reach for a cloth because I ended up straining one of mine. My feelings weren’t hurt because I have facial cloths just for my face, but still thought I’d put that warning out there.

Other than that, I did enjoy the end results and the texture of my skin afterwards. I wish it was available on its own but maybe this is Anové’s teaser of what’s to come.

Overall 7/10

Ingredients: Kaolin & Pink clay, Beet Root Powder, Pomegranate Powder, Turmeric, Provitamin B5

In conclusion, Anové was both a hit and miss. I would highly recommend the Firming Eye Serum and the Perfecting Oil. If the masque becomes available outside of the kit, I would recommend trying that as well. While the cleanser, toner, and mist weren’t my favorites, if you are just starting off in clean beauty, are looking for gentle products, or just looking for something new to try, I’d say go for it. What I find okay may just be your holy grail.
