It is officially summer!!! Okay, so it has been summer for a few weeks now but my statement remains true. Summer means we are at the midpoint on the year and it’s time for me to catch you up on the skincare products I have been loving since my last skincare favorites video at the beginning of the year. For the first time in maybe 2 years, my skincare favorites list is composed of ALL, I repeat all new products. While I still use many I’ve previously mentioned in other posts and videos, I have been using the following products almost constantly over the last few months.
Brand: Drunk Elephant
Don’t let the small size fool you, I’ve have been using these two bars multiple times daily for almost three months and I still haven’t opened my second set yet. I’m a huge fan of double cleansing and Drunk Elephant makes it real easy with these two bars. If it is a full make-up day, I will still use an oil cleanser and then follow with both bars, however on a regular day were I’m just wearing eyeliner and a brow pencil, these two bars are just fine. Both bars are fragrance free and are effective in cleansing without drying or stripping the skin barrier.
The Pekee Bar™ (white bar), is the first step in my cleansing process. According the the Drunk Elephant website, this bar clarifies, balances and moisturizes while washing away pore-clogging surface debris, impurities, and excess oil. My face has never felt dry after using this bar, and if I’ve had a lazy day (or I’m just being lazy with my skincare that night) this will be my first and only cleansing step. The Pekee Bar™ is safe to use both morning and night.
The Juju Bar is a multi-tasking exfoliation bar. With combination oily skin, exfoliating is a constant for me. The Drunk Elephant site says this bar can be used up to 3 times a week, day or night. I say I average about 4-5 times, all at night and my skin has been fine. (But remember, everyone is different.)
While $16 for two 1 oz facial bars may seem a little pricey, like I mentioned before I’m still on my original set going into month three. The only other upfront cost would be a container to store them in but that only cost me $1.
Before the price turns you away, just hear me out. I have used many different rose toners over the years, but I can hands down say this is the best one I have ever come across. Katari Beauty is a luxury brand that prides itself on bringing you ingredients straight from the source with no fillers and that is exactly what they did with this toner. The only ingredients are water and fresh rose petals. No alcohols, preservatives, or extra natural ingredients that sound good, but can cause reactions if your skin just isn’t a fan. Until I started using this toner, I was switching back and forth between Thayers and a DIY one made of rose essential oil. While they were okay, I was never really sold on the concept of using rose water. I now use this one from Katari to tone after cleansing, as an in-between skincare steps to add in more moisture, and to occasionally refresh throughout the day.
While I still cringe at the price tag for rose water at more than fifty dollars,, I will continue to buy this product because I believe it is worth the money to get a toner that works and is from a brand who is very transparent in how their products are created. The owner is freaking amazing and you can tell this brand is her baby. Two other products from this line has made it in my favorites as well.

Brand: Katari Beauty
Product: Hoba ($64)
Grown on small farms without GMO and chemicals, this jojoba oil is the purest I have come buy. I always hear that jojoba is great for the skin because it is the closest match to the sebum we naturally produce, however every time I tried to use jojoba in the past I always broke out. I’ve been using Hoba consistently for two months and haven’t had any adverse effects. A little goes a very long way. The picture above was taken on July 11th. As you can see, I still have a long way to go and the shelf life on this product after opening is a minimum of two years.
Brand: Katari Beauty
Product: Barie ($124)
An oil pressed out of the seeds of a prickly pear cactus, to helps in collagen replacement and is saturated with Vitamin E aiding in restoring the skin on a cellular level. One drop is perfect to help heal the skin after getting spa treatments and tattoos and for lifting and toning the skin. I love using this as my last step of the night to seal in all my previous products. My skin always feels soft after it absorbs. The biggest improvement has been that the skin under my eyes is not as rough and patchy as it use to be. One bottle of continuous use will last you at least 3-4 months.
Brand: Aura Cacia
Product: Frankincense Essential Oil ($23)
After doing some light research, I found that Frankincense essential has many of the same benefits as tea tree. I made the swap and discovered that my skin handles Frankincense better than it can handle tea tree. I dilute one drop with my Hoba oil at night and allow that to fully absorb into my skin. I’ve noticed that my dark spots are getting lighter. Yes, I use other products that help with this condition in conjunction, but I’ve been noticing more changed than when I used nothing or tea tree.
Brand: Drunk Elephant
Product: Rise & Glow Brightening Duo ($23)
The Rise & Glow Duo consists of an 8 ml B-Hydra™ Intensive Hydration Serum and an 8 ml C-Firma™ Day Serum, both of which are available in larger sizes but I personally don’t want to pay the full size price times two. Plus after doing the math, four of this packs gives you more product than the full size C-Firma™ Day Serum (do with that information as you will).
The B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum is a lightweight serum that helps skin remain moisturized throughout the day. I love mixing this with the C-Firma™ Day Serum, in my moisturizers, with my facial oils, with my sunscreen. Just everywhere.
The C-Firma™ Day Serum is packed with numerous antioxidants that work together to firm and brighten the appearance of skin. It’s one of the best Vitamin C products I’ve used in a while. Another good and much cheaper option is the Vitamin C Serum by ArtNaturals. Only reason it’s not in my favorites is because I haven’t used it since last year, since I have been testing the Drunk Elephant one.
Brand: Aztec Secret
Product: Indian Healing Clay ($10)
Why in the world did I stop using this? Answer: I was testing other products.
I recently started using this bentonite clay again when my acne was flaring up consistently, and nothing I was using seemed to calm it down. I relearned very quickly why I used to be obsessed with this product. You can physically feel all the gunk being pulled from your pores. Since applying this clay to my face (and most recently my armpits) about once a week, I have experienced fewer breakouts and a smoother complexion. Even the darkness in my armpits is fading, who knew.
If you stayed until the end of this long post, I thank you. I went into more detail than I originally planned.
If you just happen to stroll all the way down skimming through you are in luck because I released a video that is a condensed version of my skincare favorites. You’re welcome lol.
I hope you found this post helpful. Please let me know if you have any questions about the products mentioned, I’d love nothing more than to talk skincare with you.
